EL Charran Ártico es una de las aves que mas me fascinan. recorre
miles de km en sus migraciones, siendo el ave que más horas de luz disfruta
durante un año. Las zonas de cría se distribuye por
regiones muy boreales, situadas principalmente por encima del Círculo Polar
Ártico, y sus zonas de invernada se encuentran muy al sur, en las aguas que
rodean la Antártida y sus costas. En España se le puede ver en número escaso en
las costas durante los pasos migratorios.
Las fotografías que
ilustran esta entrada se tomaron en la Isla de May, Escocia. Justo en el
embarcadero hay una colonia de unos cientos de individuos que no dudan en hacer
picados sobre los visitantes, para evitar picotazos sobre la
cabeza, nada más desembarcar reparten palitos de unos 30 cms que recomiendan poner
sobre la cabeza para evitar los picotazos de las aves adultas que defienden los
nidos. Toda una experiencia.

daylight hours during a year. Nest in boreal regions, mainly located above the
Arctic Circle, and their wintering areas are in the south, in the waters around
Antarctica and its costs. Is Spain can be seen in small numbers on the coasts
during migration periods.
The pictures that illustrate this post were taken on
the Isle of May, Scotland. Right on the pier there is a colony of a few hundred
individuals who do not hesitate to make chopped over the heads of tourists, to
avoid pecks on the head, just landed the guide share 30 cms sticks that recomend people to put above head to prevent adult birds pecking the head tryng to defend the nests. A very interesting experience.
